With the unrelenting advance of THE POLARIZER now in full swing, the first of John Howard's Journalist Gulags have been liberated.
The first pictures that have come to light from the dark shadows of this brutal regime are horrific and viewer discretion is advised.

Many have been forced to survive on a meagre diet of just five coffees a day, some being forced to buy lunch from Sandwich shops that only offer four varieties of bread. Sourdough, for some, runs out before 1.30 p.m.Those who miss out are forced to walk a further 100 metres to another Sandwich shop, which only stocks an inferior brand of bottled water and quite often is frequented by Laborers who buy up all the doughnuts at morning tea, thus depriving Journalists of an essential staple.

Acclaimed dissident and Nobel Peace prize candidate, David Marr, was one of the few who managed to live and tell his tale. Here we see him after his release from the dreaded, "Camp Versace".

Marr was forced to live with a limited choice of designer clothes and sometimes he was forced to wear the same suit within the same fortnight. You would think that the procession of International Politicians, towing the Global Warming Alarmist line, would never end.
Even the newly elected French President Sarkozy, has rolled out the usual Global Warming politicians speech.

Czechs set to drink Greenland.

In 1968, Prague was a flurry of activity.
Anti-Soviet demonstrators took to the streets hoping that a new era would dawn. It was hoped that Soviet oppression would end and a human face of Socialism would prevail.
Put simply, the people of Prague had no hope and would have to wait another 20 odd years to taste freedom.
While unable to taste freedom at the time, they had no problems getting the chance to taste a good beer.

As we see in the photo below, nothing beats having a hotel nearby when conducting civil unrest. Please note that the Czechs drink more beer per capita than anyone else on Earth. (Darwin may have some argument with this stat though)

Before, during and after a Revolution against suppression of Freedom, nothing hits the spot like a good beer.

40 years down the track and the Czechs like the taste of Freedom and beer so much, they are not going to let modern trends stand in the way. With the whole of Europe swept up in Global warming hysteria, only two places in Europe are thumbing their noses at the Alarmists, the Czech Republic and Greenland.

Czech Republic President Vaclav Klaus, has recently re-affirmed his strong denial of the Global Warming Hysteria. In previous speeches on the issue, he compared the Global Warming activists to a "new Religion" that replaces the ideology of Communism and threatens to clip basic Freedoms.

Yes, Greenland are getting into brewing their own beer and using glacial water for good measure. Greenland is enjoying a number of benefits from the change of temperature. A good crop of Homebrew is one thing, but an increase in agricultural opportunities are being applauded by locals. An increase in, wait for it, Greenland Global Warming Eco-Tourism has boosted the economy.

So in the great cycle of life on Earth, Greenland and the Czech Republic will approach the future with no fear and increased opportunities.

The religion of fear has finally moved onto the next phase of it's campaign of BS. When all else fails, scare the kids!
This is a sure fire signal that the Global Warming Alarmists have lost all semblance of rationality and pretty soon we will see people turning away in droves from these pack of hyenas.

The tide on this issue, as predicted by the mighty Polarizer, is turning quite rapidly against the Alarmists. More mainstream articles like this one, are popping up everywhere.

But what is more revealing, is the extremes the Global Warming Alarmists are using to push their agenda of fear. They are no longer using scientific debate to prove their point, they are resorting to simulating the death of children!

When fear doesn't get them, the next step is to appeal to other emotional stimuli. Kids are quite often awestruck by the influence of celebrities, more so when they see their own parents swallowing every piece of misinformed garbage the celebrity happens to be spouting.

The phrase "Jumping the Sharks", came into the vernacular when the tiresome, long running "Happy days" had a moment that signaled the demise of the show.
Running short of ideas, like most people in TV, they decide to create a stunt with the "Fonz" doing a water ski jump over sharks.
The viewers tuned out, the show was axed.

It appears that Channel 10 have set up the ultimate "shark jumping" exercise on the Global Warming debate.
A program called Cool Aid aired last week and by all reports viewers gave it a huge ,un-fonzie like, thumbs down. Not Cool!

Have the Global Alarmists destroyed themselves? Have they been consumed by the Black Hole that they generated from their own Buttholes?

Global warming has "jumped the sharks", in my opinion, and it will not be long until the rats leave the sinking ship.

Last week I thought the Global Roosters had wound up the Doomsday Cock as far as it could go. But I can now confirm the Religion of Fear has pushed the Doomsday Cock to ONE MINUTE TO DAWN!!!!!.

This week has seen a plethora of news about Global Warming fears. The bookmakers predicted Tim Flannery would become Australian of the Year, at this rate I predict a Tarot Card reader will win next year.

Evolution of a Sitcom

The art of the Sitcom is to grab an old sitcom and tweak it the right way.
"Till death us depart", was a big ground breaker. It established the central character as a bigot.
Warren Mitchell as Alf Garnett is unforgetable stuff.

The Americans throughout the History of television have borrowed from the UK.
The clones they have made are uncountable. The most successful of their clones was"All in the Family". Instead of Alf Garnett, we got Archie Bunker. The American version was as good as the original and the bigotry was sublime.

Although not as good as the proceeding, "Kingswood Country" was a huge success in Australia. Many of the catch cries and assorted Idioms from that show are still heard today.

The question that must arrive is, what next?
I reckon a sitcom of the old formula based around this guy is a sure fire winner.I think I have a theme song too, done to the tune of "The Nanny".

Australia's' Celebrity crisis is worsening every year, according to television statisticians.
The huge growth in the number of Celebrities over the last ten years, has caused some community groups to ask for drastic measures to be taken.
"Our country just simply does not have the resources to feed so many new hungry egos'." A Celebrity crisis manager warned. "With the new breeding grounds of reality shows like Big Brother and Australian Idol, it will be impossible to stop the increase in number and to accommodate their needs. Even now, Celebrities are running rampant across television. New shows have been invented to accommodate them, like the late night game shows and celebrity survivor shows, but these things just encourage the growth in numbers."

Celebrities have been a problem in Australia for many years, but the current breeding rates are alarming and the new species that are evolving are dangerous.
"The Big Brother species of Celebrity is particularly dangerous", claims a leading media scientist. "They cost very little to create, do not require a talent and they are pretty much media whores. The problem escalates when we start to run out of room in the media. We are already seeing these new Celebrities filling out guest spots on morning news and radio programs. What happens next is they start hosting current affairs shows, serious documentaries and Arts programs."

It is estimated that Bert Newton, alone, has consumed 20,000 hours of Television time in the past forty years. Some analysts say feeding his ego has already caused irreversible damage to the Australian TV environment.
"People become attached to celebrities like Bert Newton even though they don't know him. After a few years they become impossible to remove as they can set up a nest anywhere. Now his offspring have become celebrities and the cycle goes on."

A leading political analyst estimates that by the year 2015, up to %60 of politicians will come from celebrity breeding grounds. "The problem is that Celebrity breeding grounds are popping up everywhere. Even second rate politicians are being turned into celebrities and then recycled back into politics. Then we have to consider actors, musicians and sport stars. It is the 60th Anniversary since my great horse, Russia, won the Melbourne Cup. My love of anniversaries has inspired me to give some very important, but probably futile instructions. (much like my ruling days, but we'll keep that to ourselves).

Picking the winner of a horse race in my day was a simple affair.
I would look over all the horses in the race, decide on which one I wanted to win and that horse would win.
Without fail.
These days it is much more difficult to create the desired outcome. The only fun I have these days is trying to blindly rely on luck and fragmented logic. A bit like a S11 conspiracy nut.

Well here goes.
This years cup seems to be one of the more tighter fields.
Makybe Diva was pretty much a certainty the last few years,taking the fun out of the punting. This year should see a cluttered field and competition for postion will be rough. I would like to think that experience will count, but I think it will open up opportunities for some outsiders.

I like On a Jeune, it's Geelong Cup run wasn't brilliant, but will appreciate the longer distance and was runner-up last year.

Pop Rock is one of the two Japanese Horses and is good over the distance. Did not get a great run at Caulfield and will improve on that.

Geordieland is a UK stayer, who recently ran second to equal favorite Yaets at the Two mile. He drops down four Kilos and isn't here for a laugh.

My big tip is the rank outsider Zabeat. I have linked a story from NZ, that explains that the horse might only like big occasions. The bloody horse is a Hustler!!

I've gone a couple of bucks each-way on each and put them in a box trifecta.
Low investment, possible high return.
But most likely, will do my balls like everyone else.

As my World tour slowly creeps along, it has mostly been a pleasant affair. While things got nasty in Afghanistan, fun was to be had in Bangladesh, Canada and Denmark.
Oh well, now for some trouble.
Ethiopia is heading towards an absolute Shit Storm of Katrina proportion. If the news is correct, we could be hearing more about full scale war and insurgence in this area. It seems the Jihad called by Somali war lords, is cranking up.
I predict big news from here soon.
If you check an Atlas of the world and find the border regions between Islamic and non-Islamic areas, you are pretty certain to find a dangerous place on Earth.
Right across Africa, Kashmir, Thailand, throughout Indonesia, The Balkans etc. you will find no end of strife in these zones.

The BBC TV series "Spooks" apparently rates its arse off in the UK. A recent episode focused on an Isreali terrorist group pretending to be Al-Qaeda!!

Questions are being put on the BBC about a recuring cycle of Bias. More particularly on it's news and current affairs, but increasingly the finger is being pointed at it's Drama department.
The BBC, much like the ABC, has had a conga-line of socialist suckholes running it's direction for a good 30 years. They have tended to push a strange Anti-Government agenda, that takes on strange nuances.

Things like:
A recent episode of "Robin Hood" had him reading the Quran.
The series "Rome", was seen as a metaphor of the corruption of Modern Western society.
"Spooks" is taking on Anti-Semitic overtones.

I noticed that resident Australian Blog Arse-wipe, Mr Lefty, was salivating at the prospect of watching the first episode of "Rome". I watched 5 minutes and could smell the lefty overtones quickly. I was happy it was pulled from the air as quickly as it was!!
As I said, I don't know what it is, but their is a feel about the BBC and ABC that really irks me.

Maybe it is because Karl Marx was buried in London, maybe it is a mass-psychological backlash after ruling the world, I wish I knew. Maybe someone can put their finger on it. Let me know.

World Tour goes all Danske.

Denmark is great place.
I've written a brief amount about it before, but I can't help myself to praise the Danes again.

In every aspect of life, the Danes seem to be ahead of the world.
Their national constitution is unique in that, while still be a constitutional Monarchy, it requires the Monarchy to serve it's people rather than the other way around. Citizens are given unparalleled rights.
Before you jump up and down and accuse me of being a socialist lackey, the Danes don't see it as socialism. It is more of preserving their way of life.
The Danes were the last great resistance to European Union. They felt Europe had to lift it's game to their standards, not lower their own. It was not based on Marxist ideology, more preservation of a large family that looked after itself.

Danish food is the best in Europe.
While probably not having the widest variety of recipes and variety, the quality is the finest.
Danish produce managed to survive the ravages of European disease. Their cows make the best milk and the pigs are the best eating around. The quality of it's dairy, make the best Danish Pastries.
Before you say that you've had a Danish Pastry, I will tell you now that the Danes don't recognize the so called "Danish Pastries" served in the rest of Europe and North America. Each village in Denmark has it's own variety of Pastry, usually a chocolate centered treat of incredible delight. I would always accompany the pastry with the local regional beer, each reasonably sized town had its own brewery.

The Danes are a tolerant and friendly lot, but certainly not tainted with political correctness. ( Well maybe some of the Copenhagen elite are stuck up, but the rest of the country have no problems.)

You would think this country would have trouble making enemies. Well about a year ago the infamous Danish Cartoon crisis took place. What was an innocent request for cartoonists to open the envelop on the taboo of portraying the prophet Mohammed, turned into a rabid backlash. Denmark was a victim of it's own tolerance and openness. The Danes have been progressive on many human issues and have opened many doors of liberty.
This is liberty from a human perspective, not bound up with ideological claptrap.
Yet, Muslim extremists took it on themselves to beat up a series of riots and boycotts against Denmark.

The article I've linked tells of the latest bullshit coming from Muslim activists. They have tried to take the newspaper to court and charge them with racism.
It got thrown out of court, but they plan another legal assault.
Will these people give it a rest?
Will the West tolerate this incessant "Victim role", displayed by Muslim activists?

Most Westerners are willing to live alongside Islam, but this constant tirade of Muslims being "victimized" is getting to boiling point.
It's like the little boy who cried Wolf. One day when it matters, people will stop giving a damn about the rights of Muslims.
I will stay rational, but some westerners may lose their temper on the whole issue.

I hope everything will work itself out. The Danes are at least staying true to themselves and keeping their cool.

World Tour goes to Canada.

I decided to break the rules of my World Tour and not link to a Newspaper article from Canada.
Hey, I need to lighten up now and then!

I've been keeping strange hours the last few weeks.
But no matter what my work or social life schedules me to do, I religiously get home at 12.30 a.m and switch on to my all time favorite TV show, "Trailer Park Boys".

Canada is a country you could consider a close relative of Australia.
If NZ is our brother, Canada is our more favoured cousin.
"Trailer Park Boys", is a TV show I relate to more than any Australian production. The characters seem real and I laugh without fail, even when I'm watching my third or fourth repeat.

The show, as the name implies, revolves around the lives of people living in a trailer park. The characters are on a constant quest to drink Rum, grow dope, invent money making schemes and try and get their lives together. Despite the circumstances of their lives, I have a fantasy of living in their little community.

Ricky and Julian are the two central characters who are invariably behind every scheme going on in the Park.
Ricky cannot avoid getting into trouble and curses his own stupidity. But he is a master dope grower and has a mercurial skill of sweet talking the police.

Julian is the Alpha male of the Park and holds the Park together. He tries to be sensible about everything he does, but cannot avoid the vices he gets wound up in. He is never without a Rum and coke in his hand, (in a short glass of course ).

Bubbles is their bespectacled side-kick, who has the brains to give his friends good advice.

Mr. Lehey and the shirtless Ricky, are the Trailer Park Supervisors who are forever trying to get rid of Julian and Ricky from the park, once and for all.

Oh, why tell you everything!
Just do yourself a favour and get a copy of each series, or find a friend with cable TV.
I guarantee you will enjoy it!
If you don't enjoy it, then go Fuck yourself ! ( As Ricky would say).

World Tour Continues. Bangladesh.

I don't really know too much about Bangladesh.

All I know is that it floods all the time, killing thousands each time.
It used to be called East Pakistan.
It is a predominantly Moslem country.
The Capital is Dacca.
They have problems with poverty.

But, most importantly. they play cricket!
And the National coach is ex-Victorian batsman Dav Whatmore!

Many Australians poo-pooed the idea of letting Bangladesh becoming a full fledged Cricket nation.
Many claimed that they were not good enough to be a full test playing nation.
But I fully support Bangladesh becoming a Cricket nation. It is important they get a chance to play high ranked nations, even though they get thrashed more often than not. Their latest effort against batting wizards Sri lanka was a good effort. They are constantly finding new talent and in time will get better.

A while back they stunned the cricket world by upsetting the world number 1, Australia, in a one day match in England.
Australian fans were in disbelief and annoyed. I was very happy.

I think Cricket is a great game and I wish more countries played it. The game is a great bridge between the Islamic, Hindu and Western world. The pleasure I have in the back of a Taxi Cab talking with my Sub-Continent brothers about the greatest game on earth is one of my secret pleasures.
I just wish the Yanks would lift their game and get up to world standard. They don't know what they are missing out on.

Imagine what the US heart and mind campaign in Afghanistan would be like, if the US Marines got out a bat and ball and started a quick street game?
The Taliban would be reduced to nothing in no time.

So Hooray! for Bangladeshi cricket and may the world embrace it.

Now if only the North Koreans could start playing...

I'm not surprised a fist fight took place when terrorists planned to gas Australian cricketers during the 2005 Ashes series. When the Taliban were in control of Afghanistan before the S 11 attacks, Cricket was the only sport recognized by the Taliban.
Even Osama gave Cricket the nod of approval. I imagine many Al-Qaeda trained terrorists loved their Cricket.

An attack on the Australian cricket team would have been the greatest mistake made by Islamic terrorists. Many who would have been supportive or tolerant of Islamic terrorism, would have quickly changed their opinions. It may well have caused a big split amongst Al-Qaeda.

Many Moslem criket fans will be upset with this plot. Al-Qaeda does not realise that their is more to life than Religion and Anti-Western fanaticism. Cricket is a religion in itself on the Sub-Continent, for some it is sacrosanct.

A country very much the centre of focus at the moment.
Sure Iraq makes the news a great deal these days, but Afghanistan is much like a Crystal Ball for the World.

Will Islamic extremists be defeated?
Will Human rights prevail?
Can Democracy survive?
Is the Western Military capable of running a War?
Will Islam be able to reform itself?

All these questions can be answered in Afghanistan.

The linked article is an interesting one.
The Woman who writes the article is very concerned about Human Rights in Afghanistan. In particular she is very worried about what she calls, "those who call themselves Muslims". It seems the exploitation of Religion to manipulate the uneducated will be a problem that will take generations to fix.

In the West it is difficult to question radical Islam. Any criticism to the practise of some Moslems is seen as "Islamophobic", and no doubt you will be pidgeon-holed as a Right-Wing, hate-monger. Meanwhile our Afghani correspondent is pleading for a reform of Islam.

Moslem women are a victim of those who are making their own definition of Islam. Religion and Ideology being used to suppress and oppress is not new and not Isolated to Islam. But at this moment in History, it is Islam that has a big question mark hanging over it.

The most distressing part of the article, is the news of the sale of Afghani girls as young as three years old. Some of those doing the buying are preachers.

So what can we do to stop this?
The first step is to spread the word of these problems and to stop the appeasement of radical and uneducated Islam. Many in the West have to take off their blinkers and understand these real problems.
This is not a war against Islam.
It is a war for the survival of Modern, Peaceful, Islam.

I have been lucky enough to visit many nations on the planet. Very few nations come close to Denmark when it comes to racial and religious tolerance.
I was extremely disappointed when Muslim extremists burnt Danish flags, burnt down embassies and boycotted very fine quality Danish products. ( I assure you, they would have to be the best in Europe). All this because a handfull of cartoons depicting the prophet Mohammed appeared in a Danish publication.
Bare it in mind that it took four or so months from publication to rioting, which tells me the riots were deliberately incited in some way.

I wonder what the reaction to this interview will be when it does the rounds in the Islamic World?
I thought her comments were polite, honest and straight-forward. But I doubt others will think so.

I hope the world can hold on to the liberty of being able to ask questions on all aspects of life, without receiving death threats for doing so.

Ten years ago, ABC's "Media Watch" was compulsory viewing for me. Stuart Littlemore and his constant smug digs at the likes of John Laws and Alan Jones, was great comedy. Of course the comedy was akin to "Yes, Minister". Littlemores' dry delivery matched the stories of journalistic bloopers.

Ten years on and "Media Watch" has become the worst current affairs show on the box.
The controversy unveiled these days, are insipid exposes of small time newspapers who sell advertising with a complementary page 3 article.

Ooooh! Lets call corporate affairs! I'm writing to my local member!
Not Likely.

Either I have become much smarter in ten years, ( I doubt it, considering the brain cells I have tortured), or "Media Watch" has evolved into a dumbed down junket for journalists who the ABC can't sack. The fact that the Terry Lane scandal was only idly touched upon, and only under pressure from a barrage of complaints, is indicative of its complete lack of purpose.

On top of all that is the annoying work of the presenter. I think her name is Monica Attard. I'm not sure because she annoys me so much, my brain refuses to acknowledge her existance.
She has tried to maintain the "Media Watch" tradition of aloof, bordering on smug, presentation. It comes out as the most grindingly annoying attempt at dry comedy since, since, since?...well lets just say Peter Costello looks like Seinfeld compared to this ABC smugarse.

But I digress.

While waiting for my favorite TV show to come on, ( Trailer Park Boys ) I checked out "Media Watch" to see how bad it was this week. Why I torture myself like this I don't know, but it does give me something to bag on the blog.
Anyway, Monotone Attart was winding herself into a slow smug frenzy about the up coming spring racing carnival. The big controvesy was apparently that The Herald Sun was using threats against The Melbourne Racing Club for switching allegance to The Age.
Obviously Monocole Affart and her researchers have never been to a Racetrack. They would probably step into a TAB on Melbourne Cup day. That's their extent of their racing industry knowledge. But of course that didn't stop them from making a deliberate, biased, grudge driven attack on the Herald Sun. It was obvious the whole segment was designed to rub the Herald Sun's Nose into the dirt and to get the boot in.

Now all is fair in love and journalism.
I say good luck to The Age for capturing the Limelight at Caulfield, the Home of the MRC. But the MRC did the wrong thing by their long term associate in the Herald Sun. The Herald Suns' main beef was the silence involved with the sudden change of allegiance. The Herald Sun threatened no one, but merely "cracked the shits" at losing its association.
That's Business for you.

But why am I upset?
Well I actually follow the horses all year round.
As a punter it is important for me to know form.
Where do I find form?
In a form guide.

Apparently John Howard is the new leader of the West.
He is our own Winston Churchill.
I suppose all he needs now is to wack a cigar in his mouth and he's GOIN OFF!!

The infatuation from conservative commentators for John Howard in Europe and the U.S is at a fever pitch.
Conservative blogs such as Michelle Malkin and Jawa report go over the top about Australia being the place they want to be. I suppose it gives more impetus to the Victorian motto on license plates "The place to be".

What do I think?

I'm glad you asked...not!

A great many school teachers in my day were self confessed Communists. Their idealism fascinated me and their passion for a brave new compassionate socialist world, was almost compelling. The only problem was this Utopia could not be argued against and any attempt to argue on the converse was roundly put down. ( Please remember that the works of Joe Stalin were compulsory reading for any serious Marxist).
I had to suffer lectures about how good life was in the Soviet Union compered to the oppression of 70's and 80's Victoria. Of course I was seen as a right wing extremist for actually knowing the truth about the Soviet Union.

I am not a right-wing extremist.
Right-wingers see me as dangerously leftist.
Socialist Alliance types see me as a neo-con devil.
I'm quite happy being on the fence in this situation.

But I do not tolerate Historical stupidity and Australias education system is very much Hamstrung by the bullshit of Socialist Idealism. The greatest victim of this, believe it or not, is the Australian Labor Party.
By becoming a pack of socialist doctrine drones, the Labor party has dis-enfranchised the bulk of would be participants in the labor movement.
The same goes for the Greens, who only survive from left leaning Labor Party rejects.

Howard, of course, cannot lose by attacking the Education system that created doctrine based socialists. For me it is almost the same as comparing Established or Organized religion to independent religious belief.

Reading the philosophy of someone like Jesus or Buddha, and digesting the philosophy as an individual is a wise thing to consider.
But I totally reject their philosophy when coming from the mouths' of those employed by organised religion.

The same goes for Karl Marx. I suggest it as interesting reading to get ideas. But as a doctrine for the extension of group power, it must be totally rejected.

John Howard should not be held up as the leader of the free world. And the secret to his success is that he would reject these assertions. Love him or hate him, he does not live with the same level as doctrine as his opponents, and Australians generally reject any type of doctrine.

For the life of me, I can't understand why so many adults turn into screaming kiddies when it comes to Tintin.

As a ten year old, I enjoyed a good cartoon. Tintin was one of these.

This is not the Kasey Kaseem variety of Top 40.
While rational and normal people have been dwelling over how the world has changed over the past five years, a group of complete nutcases are sifting over the wreckage of their fractured imaginations and telling lies to themselves and other people.
The attacks of September 11 2001 were a calculated plan carried out by a group of International gangsters. (Osama and his gang.) Gangsters is the word I prefer to use.
These gangsters were predisposed to destabilize the world and bring the US into war.
They admit this themselves.

But why for the life of me are so called educated people, constructing such an outrageous conspiracy theory that suggests the US government planned the whole shebang?
My first thought is an extension of Bush bashing. Bush bashing, of course, is the fasting growing sport in the world. It started the day he was inaugurated, gained more competitors after S11 and grew even more when Bush was re-elected.
A vast majority of Bush bashers know nothing about domestic or International politics. They just join in because it is cool to bash any Republican President. Reagan was bashed from pillar to post in his first term, once again by people who had no idea about politics.

The S11 conspiracy theories seems to be more than bush bashing though.
The conspiracy theorists remind me more of a hysteria that took place in the mid-nineties.
I refer to those people who believed in Aliens.
Yep, you know the types.
Smoked too much pot, watched the "X-files" and were convinced that the "Truth is out there!".
These were the same people who were convinced about Y2K and the coming Global calamity.

I cannot definitively explain WTF is going on with these people, but it does appear to be some sort of Mass Hysteria.
Maybe Mass Hysteria is unavoidable.
When Orson Welles did his radio play version of H.G.Wells "War of the Worlds", Mass Hysteria broke out in many parts of the USA.
When the Beatles toured the world, Mass Hysteria broke out in cities throughout the world.
When the Danish "Prophet" cartoons were seen, Mass Hysteria broke out in many cities.

If Mass Hysteria is cyclical, how do we stop it?
Is Mass Hysteria unavoidable?

I'm not sure what the answer is to these questions, but I do know a couple of things.
Here are some tips to dealing with conspiracy theorists.

September 11 conspiracy theorists need to be talked to sternly and without compromise.

They must be reminded they are wrong and living in a fantasy world.

They must be reminded that believing S11 conspiracy theories, is akin to denying the holocaust.

Engaging them in arguments about the details of their conspiracy should be completely avoided, as it only encourages them more.

If you have a friend who is a "believer", don't tolerate their opinion. You are not doing them or the world a favor.

Tell them facts about Domestic and International politics, and try to explain the background of what Terrorists had been planning to do and have done.

If these actions cause more trouble, avoid that person.

The news item touring the world at the moment, is the so called truce between Pakistan forces and pro Al-Qaeda/Taliban militia groups.
The mainstream media has swooped on it, put 2 and 2 together and as usual get 5. They are claiming that Osama is being left off the hook, can now cash in his Superannuation and retire from terrorism at a rest home in North Waziristan.
I have been on the web trail for a while now and the big picture is a bit different.
The Pakistani government have been making deals since 2001 to get their hands on Al-Qaeda and Osama. The tactic they have been using is to play one mountain tribe against another in order to slowly isolate pro Osama groups. Pakistani forces at times would threaten to use force against one tribe, unless that tribe attacks another tribe who harbor pro-Osama forces.

A strange twist on the Domino theory indeed. Push one an the rest will go.

Obviously Pakistan are sick of fighting a war against tribal groups that are merely caught in-between. A 25 Million dollar reward is still on Osama's head. The Pakistani government has not given Osama amnesty and will continue to fight militias that do not put down their arms. (Click Link).

Tribes in Waziristan may well be talked around to getting the reward money, now they don't have to worry about government forces.

This may well be the move that snares Osama,but the mainstream media have already made up their minds that Pakistan and the US have given up.

I don't like the term "hate crime" or "hate speech". It can be interpreted in so many ways and can be used at the discretion of those that wield the power of the word.
Sure, their are some things that are said that I find terrible. When people of any side of the political spectrum start spouting words of a threatening nature, I get offended. I particularly dislike words encouraging slaughter of innocent people.
Many times in the early days of live chat discussion on the web, I would hear people who expressed a wish to "wipe out the Jews" or "bomb all Arabs back to the stone age". I would be one of the first to challenge these people, usually asking why they would say such a thing and then bury myself in the argument at the root of the problem.
While shocked at times, I would never censor what anybody says. I of course hold the right to challenge them.
In the real world, so called "hate speech" is everywhere.
The President of Iran for one,with his opinions on Jews, is a prime example of what I find offensive.
When I traveled in Israel, I heard things said about Arabs that shocked me.

So where does that leave the internet?
I suppose it's important not to upset people so much they resort to violence.
But where do you draw the line?
The film "Clockwork Orange" was banned in England for many years, fearing it might encourage young "lads" to get into ritual violence for fun.
The "Mohammed Cartoons", were censored around the world, to stop escalating violence.

I have seen both of the above examples and I didn't hurt a mouse.
Personally I think "anything goes". But I, very conceitedly I must add, am smarter than some fools out there. ( Except after my second bottle of Vodka).

Apparently the event was called a draw.
In reality a draw was not good enough for Manne. He had to beat Bolt on points and ,by failing to do so, has conceded a great deal of ground in the debate.

It's a shame that recognition of an atrocity requires an effective PR campaign before action is taken.
Depending on the location, the politics, the timing and other unrelated factors, a reaction to a human right abuse can be acted on swiftly or not at all.
Take for instance East Timor.
It took 24 years for action to be taken on East Timor. It took elements of the Australian left and right of Politics to agree to taking action. Well publicized images of atrocities after the East Timor Independence Referendum, was the trigger that brought an immediate response. ( Immediate in terms of Post-Independence, their are 24 years of appeasement that went on previously when nothing happened). No protests against Australian troops going to East Timor took place.

Afghanistan.
Under the rule of the evil Taliban for many years. It took S 11 for the world to take notice of Afghanistan's' plight. Some protests against military intervention took place, but an International force eventually liberated Afghans from the Taliban. (The fight is continuing though in some areas).

Iraq.
Saddam Hussein was a mass-murderer and spread war throughout the region. He used chemical weapons on the Kurds, went to war against Iran and Invaded Kuwait. His military was defeated in 1991 but he remained in power. After 12 years of sanctions, Saddam Hussein continued to murder his own citizens and finally he was ousted in 2003. The excuse to finally oust Saddam, was that he was harboring Weapons of Mass Destruction. A huge wave of protest went on around the world saying WMD's did not exist. Protests exist today.
Protesters ignored the fact that Saddam Hussein was a Mass-Murderer and that guns ARE WMD's!!

Sudan.
Attempted Genocide has been taking place in the Darfur region of Sudan for decades. Currently Islamic gangs are riding around in the back of Pick-up trucks carrying out atrocities. Slowly the world is becoming aware of the crisis there. Unfortunately, it is unclear what turn of events will make intervention possible.
As it stands the people of the Darfur region will need luck for something to happen.

Their seems to be a complicated form of world political correctness, in regards to militants under the Islamic banner. While it is plainly obvious that groups like, The Taliban, Hezbollah, Hamas, Jemal Islameah and so on, are gangs of murderers, a strange defense of them has cropped up around the world.
I think it's called appeasement, in some cases it's just plain, bloody minded, Anti-American, ignorance. Whatever you call it, groups of thugs from all corners of the earth are getting away with anything they put their minds to, knowing full well that no political impetus exists to stop them.
Western leftist opposition, takes the angle that war is bad. Therefore, nothing should happen. Maybe send a harsh letter or get the UN to waggle a finger, but that's it.
Well the fact is appeasement does not work. The Taliban and Saddam Hussein would still be around if force was not used to oust them. The same goes with Hitler.

So do we have to wait for another S 11, Pearl harbor, Invasion of Poland to react?

The rain in Spain falls mainly on the Plain.
I'm sure that George Bush doesn't care where in Spain the rain falls, but in Texas he probably knows. And most likely he would be able to tell you with a high degree of communication skill, if he was speaking Texan!

Bush bashing is the fastest growing sport of this millennium. The moment he won the Presidency, every Republican hater and America hater was getting stuck into him.
And he didn't disappoint.
Late show host David Letterman has lived off George Bush's speaking faux pas' from day one. A night does not go by when a George Bush speech is not dissected for the amusement of millions around the world.
But for those who are lucky enough to listen to George talk in an un-televised or unofficial event, the difference is considerable. People are delightfully surprised by what they hear and many have changed their opinion of the man.

A close friend of mine had the opportunity to hear one of these "unofficial" speeches and even spoke to the President personally. I asked him what impression he had of the man, close up. I was surprised how glowing my friend was of the way George Bush spoke. My friend said, in no uncertain terms, ( and his not one to put up with crap speeches ) that George Bush was a brilliant speaker who had a large audience in the palm of his hands.
I said, '"really"?
He said, "yeah, he is a lot different than when he speaks on television".
When he was the Governor of Texas, he never seemed to fluff words or make embarrassing statements.

So it seems the problem is that he can't talk "Washington speak". Clinton was a master of talking in the language of Politics. Kennedy was famous for losing a debate to radio listeners, but won the same debate amongst television viewers.
On the other hand Reagan appeared like a goof when making Presidential speeches, but was a fine talker when speaking naturally.

Maybe Bush should say "What the heck!" and start talking normally.
Sure the sophisticated types might hate him more, but surely he would win a few more hearts being himself? I'm not sure who invented the credo that you have to act like a tight ass newsreader when you speak on television, but I for one would like to see more "real" people than "television" people going around. Do not doubt for one minute that television makes people fake. If anybody thinks that a regular television performer is the same in real life then you should get a grip.

So George. My message to you.

Taliban. We are back to square one.

According to the linked report, we are back to the beginning in Afghanistan.
Before the S 11 attacks, the suppression of individuals under Taliban rule was relatively unknown in the West. Reports of Human Right abuses came out at a trickle. Human Rights Watch and Amnesty International were doing their best to notify the world of the atrocities taking place, but to no avail.
The destruction of the World's largest Buddhist statue by the Taliban, lifted a few eyebrows. But the Taliban still operated as they pleased.
A few months before S 11, I received a chain email asking me to put my name protesting the Taliban regime. I of course did.
Also of note is that during this period in Afghanistan 90 percent of the world heroin supplies were coming from this area, funding the Taliban regime.

Then came S 11.
Suddenly world focus had switched to Afghanistan. The Human right abuses that had been ignored for so long, were on the news every second day.
Condemnation was coming from all quarters and after a brief military campaign, the Taliban was ousted from power in Kabul. It would be only a matter of time before the were removed all together.

Almost 5 years later everything has gone full circle.
Afghanistan is off the world political radar and draconian, oppressive laws are being re-instituted. Elements of the Taliban and Al-Qaida are alive and well in certain areas and Heroin production is remaining steady.

What does it take to remove tyranny from the world?
In Afghanistan it took S 11 to activate regime change.
In Iraq the excuse was WMD's, not human rights abuse, to remove the Dictatorial Saddam Hussein.
So, apparently, Human rights abuse is not an issue according to the "free" world.

While the left and right of Western politics try to strangle each other, they will take sides with Dictators and Regimes who commit Human Right abuses, just to suit their political positioning. The Western left have been disgraceful in their defense of Saddam Hussein, Leftist Dictators ( Chavez and Castro as examples) and Mafia style Islamic extremists. The key reason for their blind support for these types seems solely to rest in their Anti-Bush, Anti-American stance. The "enemy of our enemy is our friend" philosophy, has consumed many left wing groups.
The right, meanwhile, have gone quite on Human rights. Maybe they realize nobody in the West cares much about Human Rights abuses anymore.

But seriously, who the hell does Imran Khan think he is?
In any sport you need officials and in any sport you get different degrees of officiating. I think it was Merk during the football World Cup who ran around like a chicken with its head cut off, over officiating in order to protect Brazil. Was he called Hitler? No, he just took his umpiring too seriously.
Darryl Hair umpires in his own style. He is very strict and I'm sure he is aware of Pakistans history of Ball tampering.

Hair did not call the Pakistani team "cheaters". ( I could talk about Imran Khans' Playboy past, but that's another story.) But for Imran Khan to call someone "Hitler" for applying the rules of the game is shameful.
What is more shameful is that he is getting away with it. His attempts to be involved in politics are going off to a great start. He managed to slander someone and look like the good guy.

As it currently stands, we are not sure who tampered the ball, if it was tampered at all. If Hair has made a mistake, I imagine he will be disciplined by the ICC. But if he is correct, the Pakistan cricket team need to have a good look at themselves.
Imran Khan on the other hand has been disgraceful, no matter what the findings are.

A friend asked what's with the Stalin photo on my profile.
I put it down to my sense of humor, but their is more to it.

As a young naive fool with a heavy reading appetite, I first encountered Stalin reading about Marxism and Communism. Being only 12 I was deluded onto thinking Stalin did everything he did according to necessity.
Collectivisation, military purges, imprisonment of opponents, occupation of countries, an alliance with Hitler etc. Yep. I thought it was all necessary for the security of the USSR.
By the time I was 13 I found out how stupid I was. Stalin was the quintessential modern dictator. Saddam Hussein studied Stalin's work and applied his tactics to his dictatorship. He even took on a similar image.

What was crazy was the availability of Stalin's work in Western countries for such a long time. Some Marxists called themselves Stalinists well into the 1970's. I remember reading a Stalinist newsletter and seeing photos of a Stalinist get together barbecue. I could not stop laughing at this image of happy-go-lucky Westerners, gathering together to celebrate a tyrant.
Stalin was as evil as Hitler, but as the victor, Stalin was not as heavily vilified. The tragedy is that while the political philosophies of both men are quite despicable, Stalinism survives into the 21st Century. Nazism was effectively strangled to death as a political philosophy but Stalinism was allowed to survive. North Korea and Saddam's Iraq are two examples of its survival.
Stalin was the most successful tyrant of Modern times. Even when he was dead, his fear carried on.
He is a reminder to me of what still must be fought. The resolve of Tyrants and the fear they use to build their power.
He is also a reminder of what can happen when tyranny is ignored and allowed to perpetuate.

But I can't help but laugh when I see his image. Something I wouldn't do in his company that's for sure.

It seems more and more people around the world want Hezbollah recognized. As what I'm not sure, but people want them recognized.
Apparently they have built their prestige to such a point, they are seen as a future government of the region. In their function of conduits of Syrian and Iranian funds into the region, they have played a quasi-government role. I suppose they have a policy of, for each gun or rocket launcher they receive, they must funnel a certain percentage into the "hearts and minds campaign".
Of course Hezbollah started as a purely terrorist organization. The more successful they became at being terrorists the closer they came to the game of politics.

The Nazi party is still seen as the most evil organization of the 20th Century. Strangely I'm always reminding people that they were voted into the Reichstag. They started as a group of thugs who attempted various coups to get into power, but eventually got wise and realized they could use Democracy to implement Totalitarianism. Two of their major policies were revenge and destruction of the Jews.

Hezbollah are getting support from all corners of the world. If Lebanon has an election in the not too distant future, Hezbollah will gain a huge amount of influence, if not Government control. (Some may claim they do anyway, as they are unlikely to be disarmed). People are claiming Hezbollah are rebuilding Lebanon.

Bob Brown takes hard line on religious extremists.

Finally, Bob Brown has decided to take a stand against religious fundamentalists. He has called for an inquiry and he wants answers.
The group he has targeted are called the "Exclusive Brethren". As the name suggests they are a fundamentalist religious group who are opposed to electronic communications, contact with the outside world and the usual loopy rules applied by hard-core religious groups.

Sounds like a radical shift in Green Party policy doesn't it?
Well not really.
The Exclusive Brethren are a fundamentalist Christian religious order. They have about 40,000 members worldwide and, according to some reports, are doing OK for money. Although forbidden to do just about anything within the modern world, they have made a foray into political lobbying. Their most recent campaigns have been against the Green Party in the Tasmanian and New Zealand Elections.
The extent of their lobbying was mainly leaflet distribution, newspaper advertisements and a couple of reports of "heckling" at Green Party meetings. Sure, an absolute nuisance to any political party, but nothing life threatening. The cops have been called in once or twice, but it seems they had nothing to answer for.
They don't kidnap people, they don't fly planes into buildings, they don't fire rockets into cities, they don't fund armed militia groups, they don't make bombs and they sound harmless by today's standards.
I don't like them one bit, but I'm sure if I punched the biggest one in the nose I wouldn't get any more trouble if harassed.

But Bob Brown wants a tax-payer funded inquiry into the group because they oppose him in politics.
Will Bob Brown call an inquiry into Hezbollah, Hamas, Al-Qaeda? What about the religious groups who raise money for these terrorists? Will Bob Brown call an inquiry into them?

Everyones getting stuck into Terry Lane. I'm beginning to feel sorry for him. It's not his fault that he was a very poor student of History and was then thrust into the world of journalism.
The poor guy a few weeks ago was trying to get his head around using the internet, searching for evidence that the US Marine Corp operated death camps in Europe during WW2. He couldn't find any proof, but he did find some information about obergroupfuhrer Jesse Macbeth. Apparently Marine and SS henchman Herr Macbeth was part of an elite death squad in Iraq. Macbeth is a hero according to Lane, by rejecting the death squads and playing whistle blower.
Ah, Terry Lane has found a hero for the modern Era.

But wait. Oh no! Poor Terry has been duped! How dare these people play a hoax! Jesse Macbeth never served in Iraq! He told lies to Terry! Poor Terry Lane is once again the victim of liars and he quite rightly plays the victim.

Of course it is not the first time Terry was a victim of a Hoax. Apparently when he was a little tacker, some nasty person told him that Gallipoli was an overwhelming victory and it wasn't until his mid-twenties that he found out the ANZACs' lived through a disaster. It took him hours of research at the Preston library to find the real truth of this sensational cover-up! The evil Winston Churchill had such a grip on war propaganda, he must have sent thought control police to Preston library to ensure the truth would not get out.

When I need to do research on the war in the Pacific, i would head off to Blockbuster and rent out "South Pacific". A great study into Pre-WW2 America is the incisive "Wizard of Oz". Of course if I need to get an insight into the mind of Adolf Hitler, how can one go past "Springtime for Hitler" by Mel Brooks.

Middle East politics can do your head in after awhile. Biase, agendas, photo fixing and bare face lies. I needed a rest from it for a few days.
My way of putting my head in the sand is to indulge myself in sport. I over-indulged during the World Cup and have only just now required a sports fix. The best thing on offer for me this weekend was my old favorite Aussie Rules. I say old favorite, because I don't enjoy it as much as I used to. The quality of play has dwindled and the rules have been tweaked beyond sanity. But the worse aspect if I have to watch or listen from home is the pathetic performances of the commentary teams over the last decade or so.
Here is a brief history of the evolution ( and de-evolution) of Football commentary.

1848 to 1956. Football commentary in this time span was the domain of the newspapers. Most people would go to the game, so newspaper opinion did not matter too much. But those newspaper reports were full of color and sweeping poetic words. Words of pride and respect would blossom and you would be swept away with the reporters' article. The reporter would never be the focus of the news and the "great game" was held in high esteem. Radio was making its mark on the sport and complimented the media coverage in a straight-forward fashion, as was the style of the conservative days of radio.

1956 to 1973. The advent of television brought yet another fine enhancement to the game. Games were not shown live, so radio and television worked well together. The commentary style was straight-forward in both medians and the newspapers had changed slightly. Newspapers become a bit more "hard-hitting" in its style and the old style was fading away. Less fruity I suppose. "World of Sport" would give a comprehensive round up of the Saturday games and was compulsory viewing of a Sunday. ( Remembering that all games were played at the same time every Saturday ). Replays were on channels 2, 7 and 9 in that period and channel 0 ( now 10 ) would broadcast the VFA.

1974 to 1988. With the advent of color TV, football commentary become a bit more animated. Lou Richards and Peter Landy would get a bit more excited about their commentary work and would almost go over the edge in bias. Thankfully they didn't get into self-indulgence and though very inaccurate at times, they tried hard to cover the game properly. Radio commentary become a bit more animated and the likes of Rex Hunt would occasional make a joke or two during commentary. Quite amusing once or twice during a game, but the action was still the main focus. The newspapers became more extensive in their commentary, but with that a bit more trivial and gossip ridden.

1989 to 1999. Television coverage becomes more and more elaborate. Statistics were displayed with more frequency and more angles on the game were shown. Bruce McAveney was seen as the King of commentators, much to my annoyance. He would gush, scream, cry, pontificate and run the gamut of emotions. "World of Sport" was axed and the new King of Football television was the "Footy Show", a show dedicated to egos more so than football.
Radio coverage was going through a massive change. Commentary teams had changed completely and the commentators rather than the game, become the focus of the coverage. Rex Hunt had changed his commentary from calling the football with occasional idioms, to a stream of fabricated colloquialisms with the occasional bit of football. Other stations were splattered with ex-footballers who were honing their media skills as a path to coaching. Newspapers had officially become crap. The Age started going retro-fruity, but it comes across as wet as a Christmas Luenig cartoon.

2000 to present. With ex-footballers and their agents in complete control of football media coverage, all forms of television coverage is officially complete shit. Channel 9 takes over from 7. The likes of Garry Lyon and Brian Taylor have their heads so far up their arse they can no longer see the football. Rex Hunt is no longer a football commentator. He just happens to have a three hour show while the football is on where he just wails and shouts about nothing. Sam Newman is..um...well..no need to say anything really.

In reflection the state of football is more depressing than the Middle East crisis. A pack of power hungry idiots have hi-jacked football coverage and they must be driven out of power. ABC radio coverage will be dwindled next year, which is sad because it is the best thing that the ABC does and is the last bastion of sanity. If we do not stand up to these football terrorists we may have to live according to their rules, or is it too late?
I might read some news on the Middle East to cheer up.

Terror plot foiled. Idiots still in denial.

Scotland yard announced only a few hours ago that it had foiled a major terrorist plot. Arrests have been made after a well-planned police sting. At this stage it appears thousands of lives have been saved and the dimension of the attack would have been on the scale of September 11.
Well done Lads!

But my relief turned into anguish when I noted the immediate reaction of the left-wing. I thought that maybe, just maybe, some people would put their pride aside and admit that the world is gripped in a battle against terrorism.
Not to be.
The denial continues.
My absolute nemisis website, democraticunderground, had HUNDREDS of idiots commenting on the foiled terrorist attempt. I don't think I found one commentor who believed a real threat was taking place. Go check for yourself, I gave up after reading about 200.
You will read every conspiracy theory under the sun. Even the old S11 denials get dragged out for a re-run.

Terrorism has been around for a long time. The terrorist act that woke me up to the gravity of this threat not going away was the attack on the USS Cole. When I tried to talk to people about what may be building in the future, I was looked at like a lunatic. At the time I thought I was going mad considering I was the only person worried about a growing threat.
Then came September 11. As I watched events unfold that day, I was shocked but not surprised. For many it was a huge eye-opener but as the months grinded on, a huge percentage of people were denying a terrorist threat existed at all!!
Many claimed it was an elaborate fear campaign, many more claimed that America brought the attack upon itself and a huge number claimed that it was perpetrated by Israel and the CIA!
Maybe I was mad!
The next major jolt, in my part of the world, was the Bali bombing. I thought to myself that surely the impact of this will, beyond any shadow of a doubt, show that Islamic terrorism is a real threat. Even while the dust was settling, I heard someone mutter that it was the CIA!! I brushed it away as the rantings of a real lunatic.
A few months later I read the disturbing statistic that %40 of Indonesians believed the CIA was behind the Bali bombings. Some friends and associates ( now very former friends and associates! ) , also believed the CIA was behind the attack.

At this point in time I realised the West was in crisis. A real battle was at hand. I thought it was my duty to not be shy in coming forward about the state of the world. All I did was discover how many people were determined to keep their heads in the sand.
Time went on and terrorist attacks continued.
As my resolve changed, so did that of my old lefty friends. Their resolve was that the Invasion of Iraq has caused more attacks and that Bush, Blair, Howard and co. were to blame.
Come July 2005 an orchestrated terrorist attack took place in London. The reaction from the left? Invasion of Iraq has caused it all.

August 2006. Lieberman is gang-tackled by the leftist blogosphere and subsequently loses the Primary. The left-wing go bananas. They are rallying to ruthlessly destroy the political careers of all Democrats who don't submit to their beliefs. They basically want to control the party and pull out of Iraq.
The next day the London Airport terror plot is foiled. The reaction of the same people who lynched Lieberman? It's all a big lie!

Islamic terrorists are a huge threat. But the threat that is even bigger is that of ignorant leftists, who are in complete denial of the threat. They are the root cause of the lack of resolve in the Western world to stand up to people who wish to destroy them.

How do we pull these heads out of the sand?
I don't really know, but it's imperative it happens.

Lieberman loses. US left wants more blood. Stalin would be proud.

US Democrat 2000 vice-President candidate, Joe Lieberman, was defeated in a Democrat primary election on Tuesday.
Left-wing Internet blog sites are slapping each other on the back, claiming part of the credit for the his defeat.
The atmosphere in the left-wing blogosphere was of extreme jubilation when the result was announced. Considering all the results that haven't gone their way the last 6 years, maybe they had cause for celebration.

2000 Bush Win

2006 Karl Rove avoids indictment

Each of these issues/events caused much disappointment for the US left. I traveled the net extensively while all these events were occurring, and the anger and frustration I observed was startling. When Bush adviser Karl Rove survived indictment in the
Valerie Plame affair, the US left were devastated. What increased their devastation was the level of expectation they had when the believed that Rove would be indicted. Several times it was reported that Rove was definitely being indicted. Each time the US left went into hard core celebration and each time they were let down. The same happened during the elections.

The defeat of Lieberman sent one of the major left-wing sites (www.democraticunderground.com) into a scene of rabid jubilation. But it didn't take long for the knives to come out.
Calls for a takeover of the party were everywhere.
Democrats who did not support a cut-and-run policy were being targeted.
And all this was happening using the harshest of language and open slather slander. It was not a scene of political discussion, the only way to describe it would be that of a mob riot.
Meanwhile Mike Moore came out of hiding and released a message threatening to make non-left Democrats pay for their crimes. The revolution had started!!!

Just one problem.

The Republicans are untouched.

At least during the Russian Revolution they overthrew the Monarchy before sending their own to the Gulag.
The Democrats are purging their own members first.
Then what?
The Democrats will have no hope of winning in 2008 if the moderates are exiled or shot. People will not vote for a Democrat party that swings too far to the left. Mike Moore is electoral poison.

The Democrat left might as well enjoy the moment. Drink the wine, Cut off some heads, Storm the Bastille and then settle down for 10 more years of Republicans.

We need more protesters, if only they brought back conscription.

Cindy Sheehan.
Who is she?

Cindy Sheehan lost her son in Iraq.
The loss of a loved one is distressing, particularly in tragic circumstances. I imagine Cindy would be looking for an explanation to ease the pain. Anybody with a heart feels empty and looks for ways to heal the soul in the face of tragedy. Quite often a person in mourning will run the full gamut of emotions. Anger, depression, irrational blame, social withdrawal are just some of those emotions.
The best way to conquer these emotions is to surround yourself with patient and understanding people.
Cindy managed to surround herself with people.
What Cindy did next was to protest against the war in Iraq. She has protested in several ways, ranging from sit-ins to hunger strikes and even threatening to enter politics. At this point I think the attempt at healing had passed.
She bought a property in Crawford, Texas, to be closer to the President's home. She made friends with Michael Moore and is rallying for a huge protest, called Camp Casey.

Her latest public letter goes into her thoughts, philosophies and contacts she has had with Vietnam war protesters.

"...Many of them (Vietnam protesters) say. "If there were only a draft, people would get off of their butts and protest the war like we did during Vietnam."

or have a look at her own words of advice..
"Our brothers are being "bound and gagged" and "chained to chairs in Guantanamo."

or how about these healing words...
"Not only has this administration, with the eager approval of Congress, committed genocide on a massive scale, they are taking away our civil rights and our right to be heard and counted".

So lets summarize.
A grieving mother wants more Americans to die, so that she can boost numbers for her egocentric protest.
She describes allies of those responsible for her sons death as "brothers".
She accuses her own country as a perpetrator of Genocide (I fell off my chair!) and falsely claims her voice isn't being heard, when her thoughts are published on one of the most well read websites in the world.

May your son rest in Peace.
Cindy Sheehan on the other hand gets no sympathy from me. If she thinks going on an ego trip on the Mike Moore express will change her world, she had better wake up to herself. She has made it plainly obvious that she has used her son's death to raise her profile and that of other parasites.

Breaking News!....Idiots run media!..Shock Horror!

It's been a big week for media mistakes. Reuters have admitted to running a couple of doctored photos, questions have been raised about which bomb hit where and when, a journalist falls for the Jesse Macbeth hoax and then of course we still have the usual mistakes. Too numerous to mention.
The media has always been a breeding ground for stupidity. But it is getting worse every day. Newspapers around the globe have become insipid rags. "News" has become quick snippets of what is most exciting, accurate information has been pushed aside for an increase in celebrity news.
TV is going even worse. Despite the technological leap of the past few years, the quality of information has lumbered to a dead stop. As for Radio...well I just won't go there. Two words. Brain Dead.
Why has this happened?
You would think that with the advent of the internet, information gathering would be going through a Golden Age. But one thing I have noticed is the increase in homogeneous products in the media.
A formulae Radio or TV program in London for instance, would be formatted the same in Sydney or L.A.
Newspaper structures have slowly evolved into clones of International papers. As the disease of "homogeneous" media spreads, so does complacency and blandness. Local "feel" is pushed out and we are left with crap.
The media seems to be "dumbing down" for their audience. The problem is that the audience has caught up and the media doesn't know how to "smarten up".

A song once delivered this line "television: the drug of a nation."
It seems the drug has lost it's power.

The CIA have gone through a tough time of late. The are like a bottom rung football team that used to be undisputed champions. They are now going through a "rebuilding phase" to catapult them back to the Glory days.
They have been criticized for not doing enough to prevent terror attacks and reciprocally been criticized for doing too much to prevent terror attacks. Damned if you do, damned if you don't.
Recently they discovered one of their contractors discussing all matter of thing on her own blogspace. Of course she was dismissed.

Let me get this straight.

Some people need there heads examined. When the Valerie Plame affair blew up recently, sections of the media were in a frenzy. They were calling for the heads of those that revealed the identity of a CIA operative. Now we have this imbecile who is attempting to reveal her own identity being held up by the same media entities as a victim!

I often read Andrew Bolt's Blog site. I confess to agreeing to a lot of his points.
He ruthlessly questions outrageous government spending, attacks ignorant journalism concerning worldwide terrorism, pinpoints stupidity and political correctness in our Justice system, identifies politicians who do not know what they are doing and the list goes on.
But on occasion he will cut off his nose despite his face. Always on the outlook for new ways to bait the left, he sometimes bites off more than he can chew.
His latest campaign is his call for new dams to alleviate current water shortages. I am no expert on the impact of new dams on a depleted water storage system, but with half a dozen dams at half full what would another half full dam be useful for? But Andrew was terribly upset that he is unable to water his garden and as I continued to read his arguments I thought he was going to call on the UN to enforce his right to have an endless supply of water. He rebuffed the idea of water saving and refused to accept the idea of installing a water tank.
Two words.
Greedy.
Irresponsible.
For a man who bemoans the demise of people working for the common good, his attitude is just not good enough. Urban Australians have treated water with a wasteful attitude for decades. It has only been the last few years that a wiser attitude has been adopted.
It seems some take a while to get wise.

Osama Bin Hidin

With the five year anniversary of the September 11 attacks around the corner, the whereabouts of Osama is still unknown. I've been trying to pick up the Internet trail on him for a while now, and it is an amusing journey. The first big rumour was that he escaped from the clutches of the US by bribing a corrupt Afghan official. One rumour is that he is deceased and buried in Iran. Of course the well known rumour is that Osama is tucked away on the Afghan-Pakistan border. That could be anywhere.
North Warizistan is a new region in my vocabulary and is also in the rumour list. The latest rumour is that he has taken a flight to Somalia.
Where ever he is, it will be difficult to track him down. The CIA has not been the same since the fall of the Berlin Wall. With the defeat of European Communism the US thought the business of Intelligence gathering was over and finances were cut.
Unfortunately the situation is probably more dire than the late eighties.
US and Western Intelligence had been working on the downfall of Communism for seventy years. It's only been a decade since they got stuck into Osama and Alqaeda.
Nose down, arse up and get to work. That's my message to the USA.

The Canberra Press fraternity endlessly amuse themselves with the Costello versus Howard non-battle. Your average Australian doesn't really care, but the press seem to think it is a big news story.
A few weeks back the media went into a frenzy, circling around like vultures. Of course these vultures didn't find a dying carcass, only two politically fit entities. The Liberal party would be insane to disrupt the status quo. Labor is still in a shambles and they dream that the Liberal leadership group would consume itself in a leadership battle. Dream on!
The Liberal Party are currently paying $1.57 to win the next election and it seems like a good bet.

Their is nothing more dangerous than dabbling into the politics of the Middle East. No matter what stance you take you are sure to be attacked by one side or the other. What is tragic is the hypocrisy and short-memories of some of the fly by night commentators that have aired their opinions of late.
The worse that come to mind are your generic morning news teams. You would think news staff at any TV station in the world would have the gumption to realise the current Isreal-Hezbollah conflict has complex roots and complex definitions. That didn't stop one breakast news host from going into a tirade about ending the war immediately and demanding an immediate end to hostilities.
Do the media live in a bubble? Do they think being on TV gives them magical powers?
Rather than trying to find someone who has some understanding of the situation, they are quite happy to reel off any crap that comes into their minds.
I suppose it's my fault for not switching off.

The beginning

After a decade of deceitful trolling, the time has come to join the blog army and put my opinions and thoughts up for scrutiny. This blog starts with no real mission, but I'm sure it will evolve. One thing I'm sure of is that we live in interesting times, so there will be no shortage of things to SLAG OFF!
Politics will take centre stage, but I'm sure sport will rear it's ugly head at some stage.
I will attempt to remain politically neutral, but that all depends on the stupidity of the left and right. Currently the left are winning the stupidity war, but I'm sure the right are capable of a fightback.
